Driving Impact for a Better Electricity Future (Video)

As greater amounts of distributed energy resources are integrated into the electricity grid, utilities, regulators, and other stakeholders are challenged with managing a rapidly transforming and increasingly complex system. “Distributed resources have values that are real,” says Richard Sedano of the Regulatory Assistance Project, and we need “new conversations … to see the possibilities.”

eLab is where those conversations are unfolding. Now, those conversations are translating into projects on the ground that dig into issues of regulation, new business models, and technical and economic considerations, and to apply potential solutions to real-world settings, says RMI electricity principal Lena Hansen.

“Technology is going to transform the utility sector,” says Sedano. “Attention to innovation and attention to new ideas are the things that will accelerate the changes.”
