RMI at Regional Utility Regulatory Conferences

  • Mon, May 18 - Various Dates
  • In-person
  • Maine | New Mexico | Wisconsin

About This Event

RMI experts will join public utility commissioners, policymakers, advocates, and industry leaders at regional regulatory conferences across the country to discuss how states can build a faster, more affordable, and more reliable electricity system.

From distribution cost drivers and flexible interconnection to affordability, gas planning, large loads, and financial tools to lower customer bills, RMI will share insights from our work with regulators and utilities to accelerate practical solutions.

NECPUC Symposium

May 18–20, 2026 | Rockport, Maine

At the 78th Annual NECPUC Symposium, RMI Principal Cara Goldenberg will join conversations focused on affordability and the role of regulators in addressing rising energy costs.

Western Conference of Public Service Commissioners

May 31–June 3, 2026 | New Mexico

At the WCPSC, RMI experts will speak across several  sessions focused on building a more flexible, affordable, and resilient energy system:

Cara Goldenberg will speak on “Grid Yoga: Interconnection Flexibility without Itchy Pants,” a session on flexible interconnection and getting more grid resources online faster.

Mark Dyson will speak on “Gas as a Bridge,” examining the role of gas-fired generation as states meet clean energy and reliability needs.

Rachel Gold will speak on “Affordability,” a session exploring causes and cures for the affordability dilemma.

Mid-America Regulatory Conference

June 7–10, 2026 | Madison, Wisconsin

RMI will also be at MARC 2026, where the conference theme is “Forward Momentum — Recognizing the Past, Energizing the Future.”

Christian Fong and Joseph Daniel will facilitate a session for states, hosted by Wisconsin CUB, on using financial tools to lower customer bills, including how states are approaching return-on-equity reform and the tradeoffs involved. For more on ROE reform, see Joe Daniel’s appearance on the Volts podcast earlier this year.

Charles Cannon will present on large loads at a breakout hosted by Advanced Energy United, focusing on how to balance  the reliability risk of connecting large loads quickly with the opportunity to drive needed grid investment.
