Africa’s electric mobility transition is gathering pace — from e-bus pilots in Lagos and Nairobi to the rise of domestic EV manufacturers across the continent. With rapid urbanization driving demand for cleaner transport, electric vehicles are no longer a distant goal but an urgent necessity. Yet, progress remains fragmented by borders. Unlocking Africa’s EV Potential presents a continent-wide framework to harmonize policies within Africa’s Regional Economic Communities, such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the East African Community (EAC), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
