About This Event
Until recently, methane emissions from landfills and waste have flown under the radar, and their contribution to the climate threat has largely eluded public awareness. As methane emissions have become more visible with advanced satellite and airborne remote sensing technologies, the waste sector’s ability to address methane emissions has been hindered by a lack of accessible data, actionable best practices, and evidence-based reduction measures. RMI and Clean Air Task Force’s Waste Methane Assessment Platform (WasteMAP) addresses these shortfalls by providing an open-source platform that brings together measured, modeled, and observed emissions data with decision support tools and recommendations for policymakers, landfill operators and other stakeholders to develop effective strategies for managing emissions from the solid waste sector.
Join us for a webinar to learn more about the new platform, see a live demo of the tool, and find out how RMI and CATF are supporting decision makers on the ground through country engagement.
The webinar features opening remarks by Carolina Urmeneta, Waste and Circular Economy Program Director for the Global Methane Hub, who discusses the importance of reducing methane emissions from the waste sector.
