About This Event

Held just days before COP30, the Oceans of Opportunity Summit will convene approximately 200 senior executives, policymakers, and experts from maritime, energy, and finance industries to accelerate progress on shipping’s decarbonization. Participants will include leaders from international regulatory bodies, global port associations, multistakeholder coalitions, governments, shipping lines, energy producers, e-fuel offtakers, institutional investors, development banks, climate finance institutions, NGOs, and industry associations. Anchored in the International Maritime Organization’s net zero strategy, the International Association of Ports and Harbors’ (IAPH) decarbonization framework, and the work of the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and the Global Maritime Forum (GMF), the Summit will focus on moving from commitments to large-scale implementation.

Discussions in Rio will address:

  • Global frameworks that shape maritime decarbonization
  • Ports as energy hubs and their transformative role in the energy transition · Financing mechanisms needed to accelerate and de-risk early projects
  • Deployment of zero-emission fuels (ZEFs) at scale

Within this broader agenda, the Port of Açu and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges will be highlighted as a case study of how transatlantic partnerships can connect renewable supply with industrial demand.
