
Valeriya is currently working on large-scale industrial decarbonization projects at the Climate Aligned Industries Program. Her main areas of expertise include techno-economic analysis of supply chain decarbonization, climate technologies, and industrial emissions reduction pathways.
Background
Prior to joining RMI, she led large-scale international research and innovation projects at the Energy Institute at Johannes Kepler University, where she managed three major European Commission-funded projects totaling $10M, including the award-winning PEAKapp project. She also worked as a Visiting Researcher at UC Berkeley’s Energy and Resources Group, where she conducted research on unquantified climate impacts with a focus on mental health costs of extreme weather events, and served as a Senior Economist at the ifo Institute at the University of Munich, where she led climate and energy research combining quantitative analysis and energy system modeling.
Education
Valeriya holds a PhD in Economics from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, where she graduated with distinction in 2019 and received the Next Generation Award for her PhD work as well as the Mission Innovation Austria Award in 2021
