Sebastian is an associate in the Climate Intelligence Program. He supports the Carbon Markets Initiative working to build trust and transparency in the voluntary carbon market with a focus on data quality and data standardization.

Background

Prior to his current role at RMI, Sebastian worked as an intern and in temporary roles in RMI’s US Program. His work revolved around hydrogen policy, industrial decarbonization, and sustainable aviation fuel, which included helping to develop and create the Decarbonizing Industry Resources Tool as well as helping author the Refueling Aviation in the United States report that discusses the evolution of sustainable aviation fuel policy in the United States.

During his MBA, Sebastian worked as a sustainability consultant for Oatly, Enterprise Community Partners, and the Town of Pittsford, NY, among others. His projects primarily revolved around conducting greenhouse gas inventories and developing decarbonization and climate resiliency strategies.

Sebastian began his professional career as a science teacher, teaching a wide range of science disciplines for almost a decade at the secondary school level. His favorite subjects to teach were earth/space science, environmental science – particularly climate science , and genetics & biotechnology. During his teaching tenure he also coached multiple sports across all three seasons including, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse.
