Pat Wood, III is a founder and executive chairman of the Hunt Energy Network (HEN). He is an evangelist for a power system that is decentralized, dependable, democratized, diverse, decarbonized, and digitalized. Pat and the HEN team have started the planet’s fastest transitioning power market (Texas) building a stronger power system with a network of energy storage assets, peaking power plants, and demand-responsive customer-owned generation.  

 Pat is past chairman of the Public Utility Commission of Texas and of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he was a driving force behind competitive energy markets and robust infrastructure investment. Prior to founding HEN, Pat’s energy infrastructure activities included public board service (Dynegy, Quanta Services, SunPower, Memorial Resource Development, Spring Valley Acquisition Corp.) and project development (Airtricity, First Wind, Sharyland Utilities, Xtreme Power, TPI Composites).  

Pat is presently board vice-chairman for LUMA, the joint venture operating and rebuilding the Puerto Rico grid. He is an NREL external advisory board member and co-chair of the Pew Trusts Local Energy Resource Advisory Council. He is a Texas A&M Aggie civil engineer (environmental) with a law degree from Harvard. Most importantly, he was lucky enough to get Kathleen Ryder to marry him, and they are the parents of four highly engaged sons.
