Meredith Cowart is a senior associate in RMI’s US Program where she supports RMI’s Microgrids for Resilient Energy in Communities and Clean Regional Economic Development teams.

Meredith has played a key role in advancing RMI’s mission through her work with RMI’s flagship Electricity Innovation Lab (eLab), where she has designed and facilitated numerous multi-stakeholder collaborations addressing complex challenges in the energy transition. She has led facilitation for several high-impact eLab convenings, including Delivering Direct Community Benefits of Solar Development to Navajo Nation, the Sustainable FERC 2024 Strategy Retreat, and Coal Community Workforce Transition. Most recently, she organized and led the Microgrids for Resilient Communities Cohort, a program that equips community leaders with tools to design, finance, and deploy solar-plus-storage microgrids.  Meredith brings a deep commitment to equitable energy solutions and community-driven climate resilience.

Background

Before RMI, Meredith worked with CONCUR Inc, a nationally-recognized environmental mediation/dispute resolution firm where she co-designed and facilitated multistakeholder negotiation processes with a range of interest groups on technically intensive environmental issues. She also directed Natural Resource Associates, an independent consulting firm conducting research/analysis on forestry, energy, and climate change issues.
