Meredith Cowart is a Senior Associate in RMI’s Carbon-Free Electricity Practice where she supports RMI’s Beyond Carbon and e-Lab work.
Background
Before RMI, Meredith worked with CONCUR Inc, a nationally-recognized environmental mediation/dispute resolution firm in Berkeley, California. With CONCUR, she co-designed and facilitated multistakeholder negotiation processes with a range of interest groups on technically intensive environmental issues. Some joint fact-finding and stakeholder engagement processes included: diesel particulate matter reductions at the Port of Oakland, energy efficiency policy recommendations across California, desalination feasibility in Southern California, and ocean planning in American Samoa. She worked closely with key clients, including: Port of Oakland, California, Public Utilities Commission; California Coastal Commission; National Marine Fisheries Service (multiple regional offices); EPA Region 9; and National Center for Environmental Conflict Resolution.
Prior to CONCUR Inc., Meredith directed Natural Resource Associates, an independent consulting firm conducting research/analysis on forestry, energy, and climate change issues. For this work, she researched and wrote multiple technical reports, including The Atmospheric Carbon Impacts of Community-Scale Biomass Energy Production in the Northeast.
