Mark Lozano

Senior Associate
  • Climate-Aligned Industries

Mark is a senior associate on the Climate Aligned Industries’ Hydrogen team where he drives technical, market, and stakeholder assessments to promote the production, distribution, and adoption of green hydrogen and its derivatives across various end-use sectors. His contributions have spanned from delivering client-specific insights to offering data-backed recommendations on national policy. In addition to working towards a just sustainable transition, Mark’s passion also lies in increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the energy sector, which he supports as the co-Chair of RMI’s Latin American and Caribbean Employee Resource Group.

Background

Prior to joining RMI, Mark spent many years developing a career in energy and sustainability. In 2022, Mark earned his PhD in Energy Systems with an emphasis on Industrial Ecology. His dissertation used life cycle assessment (LCA) to evaluate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction strategies considered by local governments in California and assessed how these jurisdictions can best improve their climate change mitigation efforts to become more cost-effective and equitable. During his undergraduate studies in physics, Mark cross-enrolled in Harvey Mudd College’s engineering program where he conducted a senior capstone project developing an energy monitoring system for a rubber molding facility.
