Katie Siegner

  • Carbon-Free Electricity

Katie is a manager on the Clean Competitive Grids team within RMI’s Carbon-Free Electricity practice. She focuses on advancing reforms to regional wholesale market rules and grid planning processes necessary to enable an affordable, reliable, and decarbonized electricity sector. Her work combines research, analysis, and report development with stakeholder engagement efforts to identify and advance a collaboratively determined solution set.

Katie is passionate about accelerating the clean energy transition in a way that benefits local communities. Prior to RMI, Katie completed a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. While at Yale, she studied clean energy policy, deployment, and finance, and interned for Ranger Power, a utility-scale solar developer. Her research interests included pollinator-friendly solar, offshore wind, and cutting-edge clean energy solutions.

Katie’s background is in communications and climate change education. Before returning to school for her Masters, she worked in Minneapolis at Climate Generation: A Will Steger Legacy. For the two years prior, Katie traveled around the U.S. working on environmental organizing campaigns. Outside of work, she can be found running, exploring new places, sampling craft beers, or concocting something interesting with her sourdough starter.
