Hannah Thonet is a manager on the Sprint ‘24 Initiative in RMI’s US Program, where she manages state engagement and aids state efforts to implement climate-aligned policies. Sprint ’24 is a targeted effort to support climate-ambitious states with the strategic clarity, analytic assistance, communications, and stakeholder alignment necessary to enable states to establish a policy portfolio fully aligned with their own stated goals and a climate-aligned future.
Background
Before joining RMI, Hannah was a policy advisor to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. She developed the administration’s climate, energy, and environmental agenda and worked with agencies and stakeholders to ensure the implementation of key policies.
Hannah also served as a senior policy advisor in New Jersey’s public utility commission, where she advised the state’s energy regulators on clean energy policies and programs and oversaw major initiatives, including New Jersey’s latest Energy Master Plan, which established the strategies and goals to achieve 100 percent clean energy and an 80 percent reduction in the state’s climate emissions by 2050.
Hannah was also Chief of Staff at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), where she co-chaired DEP’s participation in the city’s sustainability plan, OneNYC.
