Emily Long

Conference and Events Manager
  • Communications

Emily currently leads events and conferences for RMI’s communications and marketing team, with a focus on large-scale climate conferences such as COP and New York Climate Week.

Background

Emily is a hybrid communicator with expertise in clean energy technology and innovation. Before officially joining RMI in 2022, Emily worked on RMI projects beginning with the pre-pandemic three-continent Emerge event in 2019.

As the owner of Neva Peak Consulting for seven years, Emily provided full suite marketing and communications services for nonprofits, startups, and established businesses and organizations. She served as a senior manager at Inflection Point Agency, a communications director for Colorado Cleantech Industries Association, and a local reporter for Left Hand Valley Courier in Niwot, Colorado.

Her experience in early-stage clean energy business incubation includes time as a fellow with battery startup Nikola Power during the first Techstars Sustainability cohort, as an associate at a student-run venture fund (Deming Center Venture Fund), as a program manager for a cleantech business accelerator (Cleantech Open), and as a director of Energy Fellows Institute, an executive immersion bootcamp educational program.

Earlier in her career, Emily was a program director at Telluride Mountainfilm, one of the nation’s leading festivals dedicated to environmental and social justice themes and one of the oldest documentary film festivals in the world. She also managed the historic one-screen Nugget Theatre in Telluride, Colorado, and holds deep nostalgia for traditional reel-to-reel film projection technology. Prior to this, Emily completed two years of service as a US Peace Corps volunteer in Prachuap Kiri Khan, Thailand.

A classically trained vocalist and pianist, Emily performs with the Boulder Philharmonic Chorus and previously performed with the Colorado Music Festival, Seicento Baroque Ensemble, and Heartbeat.
