Dennis McGinn

Admiral Dennis McGinn is a strategic advisor for the public and private sectors defining the intersection of energy, environment, and national security. He served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment from September 2013 until January 2017, leading the transformation of naval installations toward greater mission resiliency through energy efficiency, renewable energy, microgrids, and information technology.

Admiral McGinn served on active duty in the United States Navy for 35 years as a naval aviator, test pilot, aircraft carrier commanding officer, and national security strategist. He led the development of future Navy capabilities as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfare Requirements and commanded the United States Third Fleet.

Admiral McGinn is former President of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) where he led efforts to define and communicate the economic, security, and environmental benefits of renewable energy. As well as his seat on the board of trustees for RMI, he serves on the board of directors of the Electric Power Research Institute and the Willdan Group. He is a strategic advisor to the Edison Electric Institute, Southern Company, and Lee Enterprise Consulting.

Admiral McGinn is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served as a Chief of Naval Operations Fellow at the Naval War College.
