Holy Cross Energy is a member-owned cooperative utility in Western Colorado serving a diverse membership of 55,000 including the resort communities and towns along the Eagle, Roaring Fork, and Colorado rivers. Many innovative members including local governments and the ski resorts in Aspen and Vail (along with RMI) are seeking aggressive action on carbon reduction. As a non-regulated cooperative with power supply advantages and a supportive membership, Holy Cross has the potential to be a utility leader.
Dave is a founder of the recently launched Cooperative Leadership Network (CLN). This 501c3 was formed to support innovation and increase local engagement by improving the knowledge and effectiveness of co-op board directors to better serve their members and communities. Rural America is increasingly viewed as an important but elusive target for environmental and political progress. Influencing any portion of the nearly 900 cooperatives serving 42m people nationwide can provide a rare opportunity to affect local energy and economic policies.
Dave previously worked with energy and water utilities nationally for 17 years to design and implement efficiency education and behavioral programs for students and adults. He is a graduate of UC Davis in Agricultural Economics.
