Charlotte Matthews is a trailblazing sustainability leader with a remarkable track record in architecture, construction management, commercial real estate, and urban technology. She joins RMI as the Managing Director of Carbon-Free Buildings, bringing her dynamic experience and innovation to drive sustainable solutions in the built environment.
Charlotte Matthews brings a breadth of experience to RMI, spanning architecture, construction management, commercial real estate development, and technology. Charlotte’s impressive career includes leading initiatives in every building market segment that address clean energy and building decarbonization.
Most recently, she’s been working with investors and early-stage companies targeting the clean energy and building decarbonization space. Prior she led development of a platform at Google to automate residential demand management in response to dynamic utility pricing; lead the electricity, thermal, waste and stormwater infrastructure design, financing, and development strategy for a “Climate Positive” district, and lead the sustainable design, development, construction, and operations strategy for over 30 LEED Silver, Gold and Platinum affordable and luxury multifamily, office, retail, and hotel projects.
Charlotte’s thought leadership and experience in the industry has been recognized with appointments to several government task forces and industry committees. Charlotte is also an active board member of an energy services company and previously sat on the board of several nonprofits. Throughout the interview process, it was clear that Charlotte’s extensive experience leading cross-functional, mission-driven teams and ability to partner across industries to engage policy makers will make her a great fit for amplifying and leading our Buildings work.
