Electric mobility is gaining momentum across Africa, with countries charting different pathways shaped by their transport markets, energy systems, policy environments, and local ecosystems. Nigeria, one of Africa’s largest transport markets, presents significant opportunities for electrification at scale. Kenya, meanwhile, has emerged as a leading electric mobility market in East Africa, with growing activity across electric two-wheelers, buses, and charging infrastructure.
As these markets evolve, there is an important opportunity to learn from what is working, understand common challenges, and translate successful approaches across different African contexts.
This conversation brought together industry leaders, financiers, civil society organizations and experts from across the region. Drawing on experiences from Nigeria, Kenya, and other African markets, they discussed key success stories, lessons from implementation, and opportunities to accelerate electric mobility across the continent.
