RMI Is All over NYC Climate Week

When it comes to eliminating greenhouse gas pollution and moving to a sustainable energy future, RMI addresses the many problems of the energy transition from the most critical angles. So it should be no surprise that our presence at Climate Week NYC (September 20–26) ranges across sectors, geographies, and approaches.

All in all, RMI staff will be speaking at no less than five public events during Climate Week. We provide top-level detail about each one below, as well as registration information so you can participate:

Decarbonizing the Future of Flight

September 20

Reimagining an aviation industry that can operate without damaging the climate is one of the thorniest challenges of the energy transition. As an important step, RMI and EDF have helped to launch the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA). And on Monday, September 20, we will hold a panel discussion that includes Kim Carnahan, the head of the SABA Secretariat, Laura Hutchinson from RMI, and Anna Stratton from EDF.

An All-In Strategy for Breakthrough Climate Policies

September 20

Achieving the United States’ goal of reducing emissions 50%–52% by 2030 will require action at all levels of government—federal, state, and local—as well as in the private sector. Join America Is All In for a dynamic discussion with federal and subnational leaders about the critical need for an “all in” strategy to address the climate challenge and achieve the nation’s nationally determined contribution (NDC). The event will also feature a discussion with analytical experts to discuss breakthrough policies to achieve US climate goals.

Run on Less – Electric Finale Event

September 22

The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) is close to the finish line on its Run on Less – Electric event, which showcases real-world uses of electric trucks by 13 fleets. Join Mike Roeth of NACFE and leaders from Schneider, the US Department of Energy, and EDF for a look at the results from the event, as well as insights into the future of electric trucking.

Cutting the Crap on Climate Finance Access: A Commitment to the Global South

Hanging over the upcoming COP26 meeting in Glasgow are the core issues of justice for the Global South, including addressing the $100 billion in climate aid that was promised but not delivered. Join the Climate Finance Action Network, coordinated by RMI, for a frank talk that cuts to the heart of necessary solutions, as identified by those on the front lines of climate change.
