Natural Capitalism on the U.S.-Mexico Border

Jump to Section

This paper analyzes the US-Mexico border economy from a natural capitalism perspective and makes recommendations for achieving more sustainable development through natural capitalism. This paper suggests that simple changes can be made to the way businesses are traditionally run by using resources more productively. These changes can yield startling benefits both for today’s shareholders and for future generations. Straightforward changes to the way community decisions are made, based on realistic examination of the full range of benefits and costs, can result in greater social equity, environmental restoration, and economic prosperity. Implications for the border economy are discussed.
