Sustainable Skies: Charting the Course for Aviation Fuel in Emerging Markets

November 20–20, 2024 12:00-13:00 Azerbaijan Time (GMT+4)
In-person In-person

RMI returns to the We Mean Business Coalition at COP29 with an event investigating sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs), which are vital for achieving net-zero emissions in aviation by 2050. Made from sources like vegetable oils, waste, and captured carbon, SAFs offer a cleaner alternative. At the ICAO Conference in Dubai, countries pledged to cut CO₂ emissions by 5% by 2030 through SAF use. However, non-OECD countries are expected to contribute only 2-8% of SAF production by 2025, risking their exclusion despite significant biomass potential. Thomas Koch Blank, an RMI managing director, joins industry leaders to assess SAF potential in emerging markets and address barriers such as financing access. This event will be livestreamed here on November 20 at 12:00-13:00 Azerbaijan Time (GMT+4) and on demand afterward.
