For those attending the NARUC Summer Policy Summit in Austin this month, please join RMI expert Joe Daniel at a panel discussion Tuesday, July 18, at 4:20 p.m. CT titled “The Nexus of Gas Prices and Affordability, Equity, and Efficiency: What Regulators Can Do to Protect Vulnerable Customers from High Costs.” The panel will explore what state regulators can do to protect the most vulnerable members of our communities from skyrocketing utility bills. Panelists will discuss two strategies: 1) Equitable energy efficiency programs and 2) reforming fuel cost trackers so that utilities have an incentive to manage and avoid volatile fossil fuel prices. Panelists will share case studies from around the United States and offer their recommendations for what actions state regulators can take to protect vulnerable rate payers.
