RMI is conducting a first-of-its-kind analysis of the detailed emissions and climate risk posed by plastics and other petrochemicals. First in the series is We Can Cut Petrochemical Use Today: Framing the Challenge and Opportunity, in which we break down petrochemical consumption into key components and identify top opportunities for near-term demand reduction. In subsequent deep-dive reports, we will focus on three major segments: packaging, building materials, and textiles.
These insights aim to inform government, corporate, and civil society stakeholders on steps we can take in the near term to bring this complex sector into climate alignment.
