Webinar – Partnerships for Power: The First Wave of Interconnected Minigrid Projects in Nigeria

Virtual Virtual

Interconnected minigrids (IMGs) in Africa offer a win-win-win solution for consumers, DisCos (power distribution companies), and developers. These pioneering collaborative solutions can help close the energy access deficit in many African countries. IMGs are flexible energy resources connected to a main energy grid — essentially power stations that combine solar PV, battery storage, and backup fossil fuel generators with power from the grid for an optimized energy provision.

This webinar presented the key learnings and insights from the first four IMGs in Nigeria. Backed by data and real-world experiences collected by the developers, DisCos, and RMI, this webinar presented key takeaways on IMG project costs, timelines, construction, and operations, and discusses strategies to scale IMGs in Nigeria and beyond.

The webinar was presented by RMI and GEAPP and included a panel discussion with key implementing partners and industry stakeholders.
