How Not to Parachute More Cats

Jump to Section

This classic publication describes one of RMI’s founding parables. The story of parachuting cats into Borneo illustrates the RMI principle of whole-system design. The authors argue that if we do not understand interconnections, often the cuase of problems is the solutions. However, by using whole-system design, one solution can be leveraged to create many others. The authors describe how whole-system thinking can be used in considering the problems of energy use and energy efficiency.
