Iliad is a manager with the Southeast Asia Energy Program, helping various stakeholders in the region drive financial, technical, and regulatory innovations in the power sector to transform from coal-based energy supply to renewables. He is based in Indonesia, and his projects include assisting a central bank structure and advancing the carbon credit market to finance coal-to-clean transition projects in Asia. He also focuses on convening various regional and commercial banks to share innovative ways to finance just energy transition projects in Indonesia.

Background

Prior to joining RMI, Iliad spent almost a decade working in project financing at a leading independent power production company in Indonesia. Since 2014, he has helped develop several power projects:

1. Coal-fired: US$545 million, 2×100 MW in South Kalimantan, Indonesia
2. Solar PV microgrid solutions in eastern Indonesia
3. Solar power plus battery energy export project from Batam Island, Indonesia, to Singapore: US$3 billion, 400 MWac
4. Wind farm plus battery storage: US$100 million, 70 MW wind farm and 10 MW/10 MWh battery in South Kalimantan, Indonesia (with an unprecedented US 5.5ยข/kWh tariff)
