Pipes and Wires for System-Wide Decarbonization

April 30–30, 2024 12-1 p.m. MT
Virtual Virtual

The growing need for resilient, low-cost supply of clean electrons and molecules creates an urgent need for diversified midstream infrastructure that supports the expanded decarbonization opportunities and accelerates the energy transition.

This event serves two main objectives:

  1. Engage the central challenges in multi-modal energy delivery in supporting a deeply decarbonized economy, and to build alignment within the Philanthropic community around priority areas.
  2. Foster discussion around key infrastructure considerations for rapid and equitable development that improves on the existing practices across the spectrum of challenge areas.

The brief will pair a panel discussion with facilitated smaller-group conversation, with substantial time for questions and perspective sharing across all event participants.

In the panel discussion, we intend to address topics including:

  • What motivates the need for diversified energy infrastructure, and what challenges are found across transmission of electricity or hydrogen?
  • How can we strike a balance of minimizing new infrastructure investments while maximizing decarbonization potential?
  • What are the opportunities of integrated, multi modal energy infrastructure on decarbonization, energy resiliency, and least-cost energy delivery?
  • What role is there for NGOs and Philanthropies in future infrastructure design that supports the energy transition?
