Third Derivative Startup Showcase: The Future of Cooling in Asia & the Middle East

By 2050, global electricity demand for cooling is expected to match the combined annual electricity consumption of the United States, China, India, Germany, and Japan today.

As temperatures rise and economies grow, efficient cooling is becoming one of the most urgent and overlooked challenges across India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Meeting this demand without putting further pressure on power grids, emissions, and water resources will require new technologies and approaches.

The Future Industries Partnership, a three-year philanthropic program supported by HSBC and delivered by Third Derivative and Founders Factory, helps accelerate the deployment of innovative climate technologies needed to decarbonize heavy industries such as steel, cement, and chemicals across Asia and the Middle East.

Join us on Wednesday, October 21st at 1:00 PM CEST /7:00 PM SGT  to hear insights from our latest investment thesis on cooling and meet three of our startups participating in the Future Industries Partnership, that are developing new approaches to efficient, sustainable cooling:

  • Uravu: uses low-temperature waste heat to provide cooling while producing distilled water for data centers and industrial facilities.
  • Conry Tech: develops ultra-efficient, distributed heat pumps for more flexible and energy-efficient building cooling.
  • Optimist: develops modular cooling systems designed to deliver efficient thermal comfort, including during extreme heat.

The next decade of growth in Southeast Asia and India will be shaped by how — and how sustainably — we solve this. Come see three startups building that future.
