In the past year alone, estimates of electricity demand growth for the next five years have nearly doubled–to more than ninefold what we’ve seen in the past decade. Datacenters are a key driver—projected to account for 13% of US electricity consumption, due to the rise of AI, cryptocurrency, and cloud computing.
Anticipated increases in industrial loads and the rise of EVs add further demand to grids already straining to meet current loads. Companies in these industries and beyond are racing to develop solutions to meet increased energy demands with reliable, clean power.
This Climate Week, we’ll convene a dialogue with Chief Sustainability Officers and business leaders across the energy transition to discuss practical, actionable steps companies are taking to accelerate deployment of clean energy on the grid—by working with the grid system, focusing on energy efficiency, demand flexibility, grid-enhancing technologies, and storage.
