Sonika is a manager with RMI’s India Program, focusing on electricity and energy storage. She currently leads research and collaboration for long-term resource planning and resource adequacy at the state level in India. She also leads efforts to establish the value and policy framework for battery storage for the Indian power grid.
Background
Before joining RMI, Sonika held various positions with leading utilities and renewable developers in the United States. As a principal, she managed the energy markets research portfolio at EDF Innovation Lab (R&D center for EDF Group in North America). Prior to EDF, she was a resource planner with the City of Palo Alto Utilities, focusing on distributed energy resource planning and integration. She also held several analytical roles with the Grid Innovation and Energy Procurement and Policy teams at Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), one of the largest utilities in California.
