Olivia Alves is an Associate with the US Program at RMI. She currently works on the Federal Policy Initiative to advance clean energy, electrification, and 1.5°C alignment at the national level by connecting RMI’s research and technical expertise to federal agencies, stakeholders, and congressional leaders.

Background

Olivia joined RMI after earning her Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University. Her graduate work focused on the intersection of applied environmental science and sustainability policy and management. While working on her MPA, Olivia served the City of New York in the Division of Energy Management to support emissions reductions and energy efficiency through strategic planning and local law implementation.

Prior to graduate school, Olivia worked in DC for the US Senate for Democratic Leader Charles Schumer as a legislative correspondent for environment, energy, infrastructure, and transportation policy to support legislation, stakeholder engagement, and messaging for the Democratic Caucus and New York State. She also worked in the US House of Representatives for Congressman Steve Israel as a legislative correspondent and staff assistant.
