Chetan serves as a principal and heads the Research and Diligence team at Third Derivative, which develops sectoral and technological investment theses and insights, and conducts diligence and evaluation of startups applying to D3. The research and insights are aimed at finding and building conviction in the most promising startups accelerating the energy transition and catalyzing action among various stakeholders toward critical climate technology innovation.
In addition to coordinating the research and diligence function, Chetan works on Third Derivative’s clean transportation sector. His interests span new battery technologies, battery recycling, clean fuels, charging, financing and ownership innovations across the road, and aviation and marine transport value chains.
Background
Prior to RMI, Chetan was an investor with 3i Partners, a technology-for-impact VC fund in India. Previously, he held roles with the World Bank and IFC in Washington DC, and as a researcher studying techno-economics, finance, innovation, and innovation systems at the Harvard Business School and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He started his career with Ernst & Young, advising clients in heavy industries on technology and market strategy.
