Shipping Efficiency Finance

We work with financial stakeholders across the shipping sector to manage climate risks and to align lending and investment decisions with the International Maritime Organization’s target of a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Together with the Global Maritime Forum and University College London, we created the Poseidon Principles, a global framework for assessing and disclosing the climate alignment of financial institutions’ shipping portfolios. This framework creates one definition of climate alignment and clarifies which metrics are used to assess it.

The Poseidon Principles are a first-of-their-kind agreement, with the potential to set the expectations on climate change for the financial sector across industries.
