Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Driving decarbonization through sustainable aviation fuel certificates

Aviation accounts for roughly 2 percent of global CO2 emissions annually.

RMI is working to decarbonize air travel and increase demand and supply of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) in collaboration with  Clean Skies for Tomorrow and the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance.

Through these partnerships, we’re developing accounting guidance and other market infrastructure to guide the implementation of sustainable aviation fuel certificates by fuel suppliers, airlines, and corporate buyers. By harmonizing the accounting and reporting of SAF certificates we can harness a strong demand signal from corporate buyers and airlines to scale SAF supply and bring down its cost.
