Pacific Island Initiatives

Launched in the Pacific in 2021, the Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN) was created to address the challenge of accessing critical finance for energy and resilience. Coordinated by RMI, CFAN has proven effective in removing barriers to climate finance by building in-country capacity. An initial $7 million investment has generated a $2.6 billion project pipeline, unlocked more than $243 million in funding, and trained over 700 public-sector practitioners in climate finance fundamentals.

RMI’s Islands Energy Program supports islands to develop inclusive, resilient energy strategies; scale renewable, grid modernization and electric-mobility projects; and share impactful knowledge among islands to achieve their clean energy goals. Building on deep experience in the Caribbean, the program has expanded to cover global islands efforts, including the Pacific.
