Webinar – The Importance of State Regulators for Cost-Effective Transmission Buildout

September 9, 2025 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET
Virtual Virtual

The US transmission system needs significantly more capacity in the coming years to meet growing electricity demand and connect generation to the grid. Our handbook, The State Regulator’s Role in Transmission, provides state regulators (PUC commissioners and staff) with guidance on how they can enable the buildout of cost-effective transmission infrastructure in their state in a way that minimizes costs to ratepayers and is aligned with their regulatory mandates.

During this webinar, report authors Alyssa Perez and Claire Wayner provided an overview of the report, including recommendations for state regulators and opportunities for research, analytical, or advisory support on this topic. They were joined by guest speaker Carrie Zalewski, Vice President of Markets and Transmission at American Clean Power, who served as Chair and Agency Head of the Illinois Public Utility Commission.
