Book and claim systems are becoming critical market infrastructure for connecting corporate demand with lower-emissions fuels and materials, particularly in sectors where physical supply chains are complex or still developing. But as these markets grow, companies face an increasingly fragmented landscape of sector-specific systems creating unnecessary complexity for buyers looking to address supply chain emissions across multiple parts of their business. 

RMI, the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA), and the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping (MMMCZS) are working together to develop a next-generation, not-for-profit registry that can support environmental attribute certificates across heavy industry and transport sectors. By bringing multiple sectors into a more connected system, the registry aims to make it easier for companies to participate in high-integrity markets, reduce administrative friction, and confidently support lower-emissions production. Designed to expand as markets evolve, the registry will combine a streamlined user experience with the sector-specific rigor, transparency, and traceability needed to build trust and help new markets scale. 

As a first step, RMI, GMA, and MMMCZCS have opened a request for information (RFI) seeking input from third-party software developers and administrators on the design, development, and operation of the cross-sector registry. Responses will help inform an approach that connects sector-specific registries, supports expansion into new sectors, and delivers a trusted, streamlined experience for market participants.
