RMI, onepoint5 Launch Global Platform to Advance Island Energy and Resilience Projects

RMI and onepoint5 jointly launch a platform to help island countries advance investment-ready clean energy infrastructure projects that strengthen resilience and energy security.

New York, NY – Sept. 23, 2026

Today at Climate Week NYC 2026, RMI and onepoint5 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the Global Islands Resilience and Energy Security Investment Platform, a joint initiative designed to help island countries across different regions advance resilience and energy security priorities into investment-ready clean energy infrastructure projects.

The partnership brings together RMI’s capabilities in island energy planning, project preparation, implementation support, and climate finance access with onepoint5’s expertise in climate diplomacy and strategic stakeholder engagement. Together, the organizations will convene and mobilize key partners to strengthen coordination and collaboration around project implementation.

The Platform will initially focus on Pacific countries, where RMI and onepoint5 will develop a delivery model that can be replicated across the Caribbean, African SIDs, and other regions facing similar barriers to resilience, energy security, finance, and implementation. The initiative will work to mobilize technical assistance, finance, political support, and implementation capacity around priorities defined by island countries themselves.

The MOU was signed during New York Climate Week as RMI and onepoint5 introduced the Platform at a special event at the United Nations Plaza. The event builds momentum toward Pre-COP31 in Fiji in October that will bring together energy leaders and partners to discuss practical approaches for advancing clean energy infrastructure in island countries.
