SXSW 2019 Special Event

Revolutionizing the Road: Harnessing Technology for Equity and Access

Presented by CityLab Insights and moovel (becoming REACH NOW)—with featured programming from Rocky Mountain Institute

The way we move through cities is changing dramatically. From electric scooters to autonomous vehicles, wearable transit passes to last-mile mobility solutions, technology is fundamentally transforming how we navigate cities.

CityLab Insights and moovel (becoming REACH NOW)—along with featured presenter Rocky Mountain Institute—invite you to join us for a series of thought-provoking conversations, panel discussions, and presentations about the future of urban transportation. Our goal is to bring together thought leaders and influential stakeholders who are reshaping cities and personal mobility to explore:

Who stands to benefit from this mobility revolution? Who stands to lose? How will these dynamics reshape communities and public transit? Can technology help eliminate urban congestion and improve the environment?

Panelists and Presenters:

  • Robin Chase, Cofounder and former CEO, Zipcar
  • Scott Kubly, former Director of Programs, Lime; former Director, Seattle DOT
  • Alex Roy, Director of Strategic Projects, argo.ai; Founder, The Drive
  • Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson, Managing Director, Rocky Mountain Institute
  • Steve Adler, Mayor, City of Austin
  • Jeff Tumlin, Principal, Nelson Nygaard
  • Nat Parker, CEO, moovel North America (becoming REACH NOW)

Moderated by: David Zipper, Fellow in the Urban and Regional Policy Program at the German Marshall Fund, and a Partner at the 1776 Seed Fund

Who will be there: Industry and academic thought leaders, government officials, transportation and mobility stakeholders, policymakers, and community members.

Why you should attend: We are in the formative stages of a dramatic mobility transformation. Dialogue, debate, and practical learnings will engage and inform the development of the personal mobility landscape. You can be a part of the conversation as we work to ensure everyone will benefit from the mobility transformation, and that cities are prepared for it.
