Mark Silberg

Mark Silberg is a former Manager in RMI’s Carbon-Free Electricity practice where he led RMI’s Beyond Carbon facilitation work.

As a part of RMI’s Building Electrification program, Mark was responsible for leading data analysis to inform program strategy. Previously, he supported multiple projects in Puerto Rico to align stakeholders around energy resilience and renewable energy policy, resulting in the territory’s landmark microgrid regulations and 100% renewable portfolio standard.

Mark has consulted with several private and public sector clients including PJM, NARUC, Commonwealth Edison, and multiple agencies in the U.S. Department of Defense.

Background

Mark joined RMI in 2015 as the first eLab Network Manager, leading external engagement for the Electricity Innovation Lab, quadrupling the reach of that learning platform in two years and architecting eLab’s flagship events: eLab Summit and eLab Accelerator.

Before RMI, Mark was a founder of Spark Clean Energy, a nonprofit that ran the U.S. Department of Energy’s Cleantech University Prize. He has published research on environmental ethics, innovation in the electricity sector, and the political economy of climate change.

Education

Mark holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Northwestern University and in 2016 was named to Forbes’ 30 under 30 in Energy.
