Tammy Mitchell

Deputy Director Electric at New York Department of Public Service

Tammy is employed at the New York State Department of Public Service as the Acting Deputy Director of Electric in the Office of Electric, Gas and Water. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the State’s electric system in all areas including safety, reliability, security, planning, siting, operations and rates. Tammy has been with the Department of Public Service for 25 years.

BACKGROUND

Prior to her current position, Ms. Mitchell oversaw the Department’s Electric Distribution and Bulk Electric Systems sections. She also held positions in Electric Rates, Policy Coordination, and Competitive Transition sections and served as an Assistant to the Commissioners. Ms. Mitchell has testified before the Public Service Commission as an expert witness and has held leadership positions in numerous proceedings related to electric issues. She also served four year as a Director of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council.

EDUCATION

Tammy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Business Administration degree from the State University of New York at Albany.
