Nick Steel is the Director of Public Relations at RMI. Nick leads RMI’s public relations efforts and media strategies, both traditional and social, to advance the organization’s programmatic work, brand reputation, and thought leadership in the United States. Nick was formerly the Media Relations Manager at RMI for over three years and leveraged US media channels to build RMI’s brand awareness and to position the institute as a global thought leader in renewable energy and climate change.
Passionate about making a positive difference in the world, Nick has over 15 years of experience working in PR, digital media, and editorial roles for NGOs, media, and brands. His work has sought to improve the lives of customers, communities, and employees and to conserve the environment.
Before rejoining RMI, Nick was the Communications Director at WildAid, a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco with a mission to protect wildlife from illegal trade and other imminent threats. Nick has also worked as the Digital Marketing Lead at Virgin Unite, the nonprofit foundation of the Virgin Group, which unites people and entrepreneurial ideas to create opportunities for a better world.
