Mizan is an energy lead for RMI’s Global South Program in Ethiopia, working with the public and private sectors in Ethiopia to increase access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity and expand local economic growth.
Prior to joining RMI’s Africa Energy Program, Mizan provided consultancy services at Veritas Consulting to the off-grid mini-grid sector in Ethiopia. As a consultant in the energy market, Mizan has worked on and led activities related to technical, business, and financial modeling of pilot mini-grids and mapping of associated risks, built relationships with key stakeholders in Ethiopia, contributed to project execution and energy work streams across various initiatives.
Mizan also served in the grid-connected system at Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU). She has expertise in power system operation and control, power quality and reliability, implementation of renewable energy technologies in off-grid and grid-connected configurations, energy efficiency, energy audit, and energy management systems.
Mizan is the co-founder of Ethiopian Women in Energy Association.
