A lot has happened in the financial sector since RMI launched the Center for Climate-Aligned Finance (the Center) a year ago. Particularly in North America, banks increased their climate ambitions: As of June 2020, not one of the 10 largest private banks (by total assets) across the United States and Canada had made a 2050 net-zero commitment.
Jessamine is a manager with the Climate-Aligned Industries team and RMI’s Center for Climate-Aligned Finance. Jessamine’s background is in sustainable finance, where she worked for social enterprises, asset managers, and impact investors focused on environmental solutions that generate compelling financial returns. Previously, Jessamine served as the CFO for Electric Vine Industries, an energy company that deploys solar microgrids in remote communities in Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Electric Vine, Jessamine spent more than six years at New Island Capital Management, a leading impact investment firm. While at New Island, Jessamine sourced, structured, and managed equity and debt investments in real estate, timberland, farmland, and environmental markets.
