Saab Biopower Concept

Saab has introduced a hybrid concept vehicle known as the BioPower Hybrid Concept. Currently built upon Saab's well-known 9-3 convertible platform, the BioPower Hybrid Concept features a hybrid drive train with an engine that can use a range of biofuels, such as ethanol and methanol. The company hopes to feature this drive train in all of their vehicles in the future.

Quantum Supplies Ford with Hydrogen Fuel Injection Systems

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide (www.qtww.com, Nasdaq: QTWW) has announced that it is supplying hydrogen fuel injectors to Ford Motor Company for use in their hydrogen internal combustion engine (HICE) powered shuttle-bus program. The program will be demonstrated across the United States and Canada to help Ford assess the economic viability of offering vehicles equipped with hydrogen internal combustion engines.

Tesla Motors Opens Tech Center in Michigan

Tesla Motors (www.teslamotors.com), the manufacturer of high-performance, zero-emissions electric vehicles (See: AAN 20 October 2006, 25 August 2006, and 11 August 2006), opened its Michigan Technical Center on January 26, 2007. The roughly 20,000-square-foot facility will house research and development for future Tesla products, which include a four-door high-performance sedan. Project "WhiteStar," as it is known, aims to have a vehicle in production around 2009.
